The BSc (Hons) Cyber Security and Forensic Computing is designed to develop advanced knowledge and practical capabilities across cyber security, digital forensics and information technology. The programme builds on previous qualifications and enables learners to deepen their understanding of how digital systems can be protected, investigated and managed in response to modern cyber threats and security incidents.

The programme explores key areas including cyber security, digital forensics, network security, information security, cybercrime investigation, data protection, security risk management and incident response. Learners will strengthen their analytical, technical and problem-solving abilities while developing an understanding of how forensic techniques can be used to identify, investigate and respond to digital security incidents. The programme also provides insight into the evolving technologies, threats and professional practices shaping today's cyber security landscape.

Graduates can develop knowledge relevant to a variety of career paths across cyber security, digital forensics and information technology. Potential roles include Cyber Security Analyst, Digital Forensics Analyst, Information Security Analyst, Security Consultant, Network Security Specialist, Cybercrime Investigator and Incident Response Analyst. The programme provides an opportunity to enhance an existing qualification to an honours degree while developing specialised expertise relevant to the growing cyber security and digital forensics sectors.

Entry Requirements

In addition to the University's standard entry requirements, you should have:

  • a minimum grade C in three A levels (or a minimum of 96 UCAS points from an equivalent Level 3 qualification, eg BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Progression Diploma or Access to Higher Education Diploma of 60 Credits)
  • English language and Mathematics GCSEs at grade C/grade 4 or above (or equivalent)

Applicants with relevant professional qualifications or extensive professional experience will also be considered.

If you do not have traditional qualifications or cannot meet the entry requirements for this undergraduate degree, you may still be able to gain entry by completing our Computer Science (including foundation year) BSc (Hons) degree.
